PADUA, Italy — Volunteers from different religious and cultural backgrounds joined forces in Padua for a neighbourhood cleanup on 4 October 2026.

Working together, Scientology Volunteer Ministers and volunteers from Padua's Muslim, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities collected around 50 kilograms of discarded materials near the city's railway station.

The volunteers concentrated their efforts around the railway overpass, an area affected by recurring waste disposal.

The project reflected a news eu parliament continuing pattern of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.

Previous volunteer operations in September had already brought together participants from different religious and cultural backgrounds to improve public spaces in Padua.

The cooperation highlights how community service can create opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding across cultural and religious differences.

The Volunteer Ministers programme originated with Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and has developed into an international initiative supporting practical help and community improvement.

For Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology's representative to European and international institutions, the initiative reflects the importance of civic responsibility and mutual respect.

"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.

The continuing collaboration illustrates the role that voluntary action can play in strengthening community relationships and improving shared spaces.

Across Europe, Church of Scientology organisations and their members support educational, humanitarian and community programmes, including environmental volunteering and human rights awareness.
